As a part of the Himlung Himal Expedition, we set out on our trek from Beshishar, located 840 meters west of Kathmandu, and follow the standard Annapurna Circuit Trekking route up the Marshyangdi river valley to the village of Koto before turning south into the Phu Valley of the remote Gandaki region.

You'll be busy touring the city's must-see historical sights on the second day. The name "City of Temples" refers to Kathmandu. You'll look for some of the temples, like Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, etc. You'll get a glimpse of Nepal's rich and distinctive cultural heritages from the sightseeing. After finishing your sightseeing, you'll start working on the expedition's preparations. You will use the remainder of the day to complete the necessary paperwork in order to receive a permit for climbing and other things.
Meal: Breakfast

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Chamje | Altitude: 1410M | Drive: 7-8 Hrs

You'll start your journey today as you get ready for a long drive to Chamje. The tour guide will accompany you to a private vehicle that is waiting outside the hotel after breakfast. You will experience an exhilarating ride along the Trishuli river's bank as the voyage progresses. The scenery is incredibly breathtaking the entire way. The beautiful scenery will significantly improve your tour experience. The trail ahead leads through a hill into Besisahar as you leave Dumre. Finally, after a 7-8-hour trip from Kathmandu, you will reach Chamje. At Chamje 1410m, you will spend the night in a guesthouse.
Meal: Breakfast and Dinner

Day 04: Trek from Chamje to Dharapani | Altitude: 1960M | Trek: 5-6 Hrs

The journey to Himlung Himal's base camp begins right here. By joining the trail that goes in the direction of Dharapani, you will leave Chamje behind. As you go, the course will become steep and there will be several suspension bridges. For a little rest, you'll stop in Tal Village, a charming community in the Manang district. From there, the trail becomes less steep, and you may stroll while taking in the scenery. The enchanted splendor of the Annapurna region will unfold all around you. You will arrive in Dharapani(1,960m) after hiking for six hours through a gorgeous area. When dusk falls, you'll enter the Dharapani teahouse to call it a day.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 05: Trek from Dharapani to Koto | Altitude: 2600M | Trek: 5-6 Hrs

After breakfast, you should head for Bagarchhap village early in the morning. The trail becomes steeper as it winds through a dense pine forest as it approaches the hamlet. You will soon arrive at Timang, which offers breathtaking views of Lamjung Himal 5587m. The journey that lies ahead leads you to a level track that declines before a subsequent high rise. As you ascend to Thanchok, the hike is undoubtedly difficult. From here, you move downhill into Koto, a town at 2600 meters. The day ends at a tea house for an overnight stay following the 5- to 6-hour trek.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 06: Trek from Koto to Singenge | Altitude: 3230M | Trek: 6-7 Hrs

You will depart Koto for Singenge after eating breakfast at the teahouse. To proceed, you must present your permit at the Koto checkpoint. You will descend from the town of Koto after using a suspension bridge to cross Naar Phu Khola from Koto. You will journey through steeper-than-before gorges and canyons as you continue. Up in the mountains, it's quite simple to recharge because the scenery is so inspiring. You will cross more suspension bridges on this day than any other on the journey. After crossing a single wooden bridge, you'll begin the inclining segment that leads to Singenge (3,230m). You will set up a camp to spend the night in since there are no tea houses in the village.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 07: Trek from Singenge to Kyang | Altitude: 4100M | Trek: 6-7 Hrs

You should travel to a Meta seasonal settlement this morning in the early hours. Amazing vistas of Lamjung Himal 5587m and Annapurna II 7937m will be yours for the remaining portions of the journey. In order to reach Junam Goth's clearing, the trail winds around a steep hill. You'll next descend toward Mruju Khola after a difficult ascent in the hike's second half. The Murju Khola, a branch of the Lyapche Glacier, will thereafter be crossed by you. You'll make a sharp descent on a segment of degraded moraine in the direction of Kyang after the first 6-7 hours. At Kyang 4100m, where you'll spend the night, you'll pitch your tent when you get there.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 08: Trek from Kyang to Phu Village | Altitude: 4580M | Trek: 5-6 Hrs

You descend abruptly to the river, walk along its bank for a time, pass the "submarine" rock, and pass a few little potential campsites. You start to notice some of the distinctive, vibrant Chortens that Nar and Phu are renowned for. Before coming to a larger glacier stream with a bridge that is only partially covered in large slate slabs, you must cautiously cross a smaller glacial stream. After another hour and a half of hiking through lovely gorges and canyons, you arrive at the Phu gate. The three towns of Phu, as well as an old "dzong" and the remnants of the two forts, are all visible for the first time via this historic gate. They are all in ruins presently but are beautifully sited above the plains before Phu. Spend the night in the camp.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 09: Acclimatization Day

You will stay in Phu Valley for an additional day today. Your adjustment process will be aided by your exploration of the village. You roam around the 800-year-old stone settlement all day. A visit to the majestic Samdu Monastery and Choling Monastery is also included in the program. You'll stroll around the village's streets that evening. You get the impression that the experience takes place in the past. In the village of Phu, you will spend the night at a tea house.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 10: Trek from Phu Village to Himlung Base Camp | Altitude: 4842M | Trek: 3-4 Hrs

At Base Camp, we'll pitch our tents and get ready for the envisioned Himung expedition. The vista from Base Camp is breathtaking.
Spend the night at the camp.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 11- 21: Climbing Period

Mount Himlung (7126 m) may be climbed from Base Camp and returned to in around 11 days. However, the weather can have an impact on your planned strategy. Successful climbing requires teamwork, acclimatization, a well-planned itinerary, and safety precautions. Spend each night at the camp.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 22: Trek from Base Camp to Phu Village

You will begin your descent down to a lovely Phu village after packing your climbing gear and celebrating your win, carrying lovely memories of your climbing expedition. Spend the night in the camp.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 23: Trek from Phu to Meta

From Phu Village, the trip will turn around and continue. A trail that descends will take you out of this picturesque settlement. Once more, the path will pass by the monasteries and historic structures that have already been viewed. Since there are more descending routes than climbing ones, it is far more practical than the arrival trip. Thus, you won't tire easily as you take in the breathtaking mountain vistas. After reaching Meta village, the 6-hour hike from Phu village would come to an end. You will take a nap in one of the settlement's lodges.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 24: Trek from Meta to Koto

On the same trail that you descend to the valley's base, we continue our journey. In order to reach a deep forest, the trail ahead passes through Singenge stone cottages. The path ahead takes you to a suspension bridge over Seti Khola after a small descent. After crossing the magnificent suspension bridge, there is a brief ascent to Koto village. The hike takes about 6-7 hours. You'll spend the night at a guest home when you get to Koto 2600m.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 25: Trek from Koto to Dharapani

We will savor a fantastic breakfast this morning at the guest house. We will then gather our goods and depart with koto. As we get closer to the village of Thanchok, the route becomes steeper. Before reaching Timang, you will undertake a little descent from here. Timang has a large number of tea houses. At the tea shops, you can take a pause and admire the stunning views of Lamjung Himal. You will proceed through the pine forest toward Bagarchha settlement after the short. The Dharapani 1960m mark marks the end of the 5- to 6-hour hike. We spend the night in a guest house nearby.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 26: Trek from Dharapani to Chmaje

The track in the landslide-affected area will be joined once you depart Dharapani in the morning. To get to Tal village, keep going and cross a suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi river. After a little period of resting there, you will resume your journey on a well-traveled path. You'll travel to Sattale, then it's a short hike to Chamje from there. The final day of this 29-day Himlung Himal Expedition trekking has arrived. Make sure you obtain the majority of it from yesterday. A relaxing stay in Chamje's teahouse.
Meal: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 27: Drive back to Kathmandu

On the route back to Kathmandu, the Marshyangdi and Trishuli rivers provide beautiful vistas of verdant hills, mountains, farming terraces, and vibrant settlements on each side of the road. Hotel-stay the night in Kathmandu.
Meal: Breakfast and Farewell Dinner

Useful Information

Difficulty:

Himlung is not a technically challenging mountain to climb, but it does take several days to complete the ascent through mixed terrain at high altitudes. This trip is a difficult climb because of the high altitude, which reaches 7000m. With the aid of Ice-Axes and Crampons, climbers must move independently across terrain that is made up of rock, ice, and snow. Additionally, you need to carry your own climbing equipment, which might weigh between 10 and 15 kg.

If you have summited peaks higher than 6,000 meters and are confident with ice ax and crampons, Himlung can be your next climbing endeavor to advance your experience at high altitudes. In order to maximize the chances of success, every detail has been taken into consideration when planning our climbing schedule.

Route:

The Himlung expedition climbing route develops over varied terrain with most sections being 30 degrees steep. The majority of the route between base camp and Camp II is via rock and moraine. The route travels largely via steep snow slopes with some mixed ice climbing from Camp II to the summit. This peak is not more than 40 degrees steep.
